Report: Putin sees pointless to examine Nord Stream pipelines

MOSCOW, Mar 27 (PRIME) – Examining the Nord Streams gas pipelines is pointless since Denmark has already said they were safe, President Vladimir Putin said in an interview to Rossiya 24 channel March 25.

"I think there is no point in showing up there now, because a NATO state, Denmark in this case, told us that they had already done it. Since they've examined them, it means that the situation is not blast-prone," Putin said.

He said that Russia did not want to blame anyone of the attack on the pipelines after the investigation but wanted to make sure that no new blasts would occur.

Putin said he fully agrees with the summary of U.S. journalist Seymour Hersh about involvement of the U.S. intelligence in the events on the pipelines.

Foreign Ministry's Economic Cooperation Department Director Dmitry Birichevsky told PRIME that Moscow might submit a claim for damage compensation due to the pipeline explosions in the future. Russia will continue to insist on an independent international investigation with participation of Russia's representatives, he said.
